Sociologist Anastasia Powell from La Trobe University has said that the sexualisation or pornification of association- the weight of sexualised figurativeness in media, music and other predominant lifestyle- has done miniature to empower young women.
Powell interviewed 117 teens and young adults for her PhD and her register, ‘Sex, Power and Submit: Boyhood Sense of values and the Unwritten Rules’, which explores how Origination Y is coping.
And she found that young people are far raise alert to about progenitive condition issues, including contraception, and the rates of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases are minuscule.
But, young women still gamble being branded a “slut” if they are too outstretched about their sexuality and needs.
“Some things have improved in terms of women’s sameness but we’re still hanging on to a whole limit of gender norms; ideas about men, women and sex that still unsuitable young women in situations when they participation pressured or unwanted sex and sex strike,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Powell as saying.
