Hounds could have pair of relay teams at regional
The Greyhounds could have a team of boys and girls relay teams swimming Feb. 3 in the 3A West regional run across at Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatic. Head coach Sarah Racette said Statesville’s boys and girls teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay have posted qualifying times for the regional tourney.
“I feel very confident in the abilities for all the kids because they’ve been swimming for a desire time,” Racette said.
The relay’s compassion time for boys in the event is 2 minutes, 25.99 seconds. The relay group is Ben Waugh, Matt Jones, Paul Gonzalez and Josh Mills. Jones has qualifying times for the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Mills and Waugh also posted qualifying times for the 50 freestyle.
The girls’ cogitation time for the relay is 2:45.99. The four girls swimming that relay are Hannah Gay, Amelia Zwiener, Evelyn Stein and Mary Blevins. Gay has qualifying times for two races, the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Zweiner also has a qualifying pass for the 50 freestyle.
