However, the Leviathans' modus operandi allowed for scenes in which Sam, Dean and Bobby animadversion on "themselves." By retracing the route of Sam and Dean's adventures, the Leviachesters prompt Sam and Dean — and the audience — to commemorate those early monster-of-the-week cases. They've come a long way, both the Winchesters and the show. Sam and Dean went from fighting fortuitous monsters, to a cosmic plot between Heaven and Hell, to fighting an evolving ur-brute. Back at the beginning, Sam and Dean seemed to be relatively ordinary guys who were attacked by visible monsters. Now they're unique — specially singled out as a threat by the prime Leviathan — but beset with internal demons.
