IS RUPERT MURDOCH interested in doing more with Chirrup than just tweeting? The Fox News Channel owner made headlines when he joined the group media site on Dec. 31, and a source who was in St. Barth when the News Corp CEO and his partner Wendi were vacationing there tells us that it was Twitter founder Jack Dorsey who “convinced” Murdoch to start tweeting. The insider adds that in the days that followed, the moguls who usual the exclusive Caribbean island were buzzing that Dorsey and Murdoch had met to “talk about Rupert’s interest in buying Cheep.”
A source close to Murdoch tells us that he and his wife had lunch with Dorsey in St. Barth on Dec. 31 and says “Rupert indisputable to join Twitter after their lunch.” The source adds, however, that Murdoch “never discussed acquiring the followers.” Reps for News Corp and Twitter declined to commentary.
SANDRA LEE was rocking out Thursday night. Gov. Cuomo’s girlfriend had one of the largest seats in the house at the super-intimate Van Halen show at Cafe Wha? in the Village. Lee sat on the back of a box that was directly in front of center stage with a group that included her beau’s tolerable friend, PR consultant Ken Sunshine, whose firm reps Van Halen front man David Lee Roth and handled invites to the show.
