STAMFORD - As hordes of young girls of school age selected through media Westhill prom dresses to high-end of the school year last weekend selling dress, a 18-year-old found a complete deep red robe draping.
Michael Holland, a senior at Westhill, said it was uncomfortable to wear the dress at the Rainbow Ball, a dance celebrating lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender students and their heterosexual allies.
The dance, sponsored by the Gay Alliance Unmixed Westhill, will be held June 17 and will be the first event of its kind in Fairfield County, according to GSA advisor Kate Tobin.GSA has extended an invitation to every school in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Caucus, but Tobin said it would accept the idea of extending it further. The club expects a participation of 300 actual and to date approximately 40 students have committed to participate in Westhill.
"It is particularly interesting for our students who identify as LGBT, for them not to be the minority for a day," said Tobin.
